Just to say Hi!

Hi folks! Ailuropunk here! I've been a lurker for quite a while and have played quite a few of the text adventures on this site and I am really impressed with the games and I am willing to make some myself. I've just registered so I thought I'd introduce myself.

My earliest memory of a text adventure game was The Lord of the Rings for the BBC Micro. It was a cherished memory of sitting around with my family trying to solve this game. Then by the early 90s the Commodore Amiga 500 plus was released and although we had lots of games to try out when we first got the computer for Christmas, I ignored most of them in favour of a text adventure game called Dungeon Quest (anyone remember that one?). I was hooked by it because it was quite atmospheric due to the good art and great sound effects at the time and also text adventures fuelled the imagination. Another text game we had later we used to drive me insane and never completed it was Suspicious Cargo.

Anyway, I am filled to the brim with ideas and would like to commit them in the form of text adventures. Already I have made a start on writing on notebooks to work out what I want. I will learn more about making games and will give you all a shout if I need any advice.

Thanks for this awesome website. Keep it up and hopefully I'll get around to posting in games of my own!

Welcome! I have spent a lot more time making games than playing them on this site but have now got into a few and you're right there are some good games on here. My first was mission impossible on the Vic 20, it was a big chunky cartridge. But I just watched my uncle play it mainly. Then I was a speccy man I'm afraid. Still play I.f. on a speccy emulator

Nice to meet you :)

Nice to meet you all!

Another text classic I remember really well was Granny's Garden, that used to scare me as a kid whenever the witch got you.

Hi, Ailuropunk.

Sounds like we may be around a similar age. I had the BBC Micro's little brother - The Acorn Electron - but there was no shortage of TA. My fondest memories are of Twin Kingdom Valley, Sphinx Adventure, and the absolute KING of TA - Rick Hanson, Saga of a Spy.

Hey OurJud! Love the Lister avatar : )

One text adventure I've heard of for the Amiga which I wish I had was The Island of Lost Hope. It looks every bit as good as Dungeon Quest.

So far I am plotting two different games. I love drawing so I'll be producing images for them. I'm always happy to receive some advice and also feedback when I get around to uploading the games.

Welcome, Ailuropunk. Don't hesitate to ask game creation questions in the Quest Forum as the audience is relatively small but incredibly helpful. I look forward to your first game release (no pressure and no hurry ;)! Best wishes and best of luck!

Thanks XanMag : )

I'll keep you guys informed of my progress!

I was vic 20 then a speccy. Are you my evil twin?
