(off topic, sorry) Any ideas for an image?

Not game related, but I know there's a lot of creative people around here.

Ideas would be good. Someone willing to find an image I can use, or even make one, would be even better. (I can offer a royalty share for artwork; but I've spent too much time posting code here this year, and not enough on writing, so I don't have money to offer up front)

My new book should be out some time in the next week. And I can't find any suitable images to put on the cover. It's a superhero story, in the same world as After Hope, Forbidden Hope, and Another Hope. The tallest and most futuristic building in the world, Hope Tower, has been destroyed in a battle between heroes and villains. Now, the city can't deny that superhumans exist any more. So they're rushing out legislation trying to identify, register, incarcerate, recruit, or "cure" all the people with powers. Five short stories, set in the few years immediately after the Incident.

Any ideas for the cover would be much appreciated. If you can find suitable images I can use (I have a ton of credits on Adobe Stock, but no actual money) would be great.

So, can anyone with more artistic abilities help me out?
Thanks

(EDIT: These are the thumbnails I got in my shortlist. Was thinking the 7th one (cranes against the sky, without any specifically recognisable buildings), possibly the 3rd/4th ghosted in the background like a mirage of the tower they're replacing. The flying guy (or another one) in the sky somewhere as a kind of flag to indicate it's a superhero book. And maybe rows of gleaming towers on either side of the cranes, if I can find some good ones. All feedback welcome)

Hi there, so you are the author of the Hope Series. I have honestly come across them a few times but i never ended up reading them. Sorry.....

Anyway, did you get your cover art yet? If not, then I have a idea.

How about, a silhouette of the destroyed Hope Tower, with smoke rising from it. The building is surrounded by a city scene with several buildings.

Since, it is technologically advanced it’s the tallest one in the scene. The background is a dusk orange.

In the fireground, on a crane a Superhero stands there, like the one in the 8th picture that you have provided. The superhero is more focused by the camera and the building in a bit far away in the background.

The Buildings and SuperHero along with the Crane are all in Silhouette. Try to imagine that, in you head.

I might be able to make the image for you, but I have to warn you i am not a Professional.

Hope you like the idea

I was supposed to have the book released by now, but still throwing one paragraph back and forth to my editor.
That sounds like it would work, but is way beyond my editing abilities. I have to work with the stock images I can find; so any towers I include will probably have to be real world buildings that don't match the description in the books.

I can imagine it in my head, but I can't draw it.
This is what I've got so far:

(I'm still really, really not happy with the tagline, but it looks oddly empty without it. I also considered "The law can't ignore super powers any longer", and a friend from a writing group suggested "When superpowers come calling, the government has to come up with viable laws to regulate them", but I'm not sure what's best)

Some thoughts...
As 'rebuilding' is in the title, perhaps focus on the damage side in the image? i.e. leave out the cranes and the caped crusader, and just show a simple scene of devastation? e.g. https://pixabay.com/en/ruin-old-building-stone-sky-401289/

For the tagline, perhaps again focus on damage to explain the 'rebuilding'? e.g. "Rebuilding Hope: When superheroes clash, things get broken", "...When superheroes clash, expect a mess", "...When superheroes clash, it is never a clean fight", ...

mrangel I think I can help you a bit with the editing just give me a day or so and I’ll see what i can do. But I can’t promise you that I will be able to do it.

So, don’t just sit back leave everything to me cause I can’t do a lot in editing terms.

Also, by any chance is one of the stories in the book about a woman superhero?

I have made a rough image
Not sure if you'll like it it!

@TheBoldWriter

Also, by any chance is one of the stories in the book about a woman superhero?

Two. The last story was inspired by this picture: https://stock.adobe.com/uk/stock-photo/superhero-girl/60833030

For the tagline, perhaps again focus on damage to explain the 'rebuilding'? e.g. "Rebuilding Hope: When superheroes clash, things get broken", "...When superheroes clash, expect a mess", "...When superheroes clash, it is never a clean fight", ...

Emotive lines, but they seem a little too misleading. Because this book really isn't about the epic battles. These stories are set in a world where there's recently been a huge, destructive battle, and public opinion has turned against all supers. A city where they're distrusted because of what they are, and mostly try to keep their heads down as much as possible.

Hmm… "After the Incident, superheroes have to play by new rules"?

How bout, “When Titans Clash, a clean up job isn’t easy”? Or, “New Battles, New Rules”? Or, “SuperHeroes? More like SuperMessy!”

These are all my thoughts, and as the Cover Art goes, I am extremely sorry but I couldn’t come up with anything ‘NoteWorthy’.

So, my best advise is either you keep the original, or you hire a professional to either develop my idea or make one of your own.

Also, I see that you have Published your Books on Amazon, I would also like to be able to do so, Assam i am a avid writer.

Till, now I’ve been writing a Text Adventure to publish here and alongside that project I have also been writing another book for my Friends to go through!

I would be very, very great full if you could walk me through the whole Publishing process and just tell me your experience with publishing your books.

And, again I am sorry that I couldn’t come up with a Cover art

If you want I could send you an image of my incomplete project for your unsatisfaction

I'd be interested to see what you come up with; and thanks for all the support.
I've gone through a dozen different taglines, and I'm not really happy with any of them. So in the end, I've decided to pick my favourite out of the ones I've got, and press "publish" with that.

As far as publishing yourself goes, Amazon have taken most of the hassle out of it. You can just go to Createspace (for print) or Kindle Direct (kindle); you can upload files to either in a variety of formats.

how do I upload the image I made!??

Upload it to an external space and link it.
To my knowledge we can't upload photos in the forums?

Save to a hosting website like imgur or photo bucket (I don’t know for sure I’m not really a picture guy), and link to forum as shown below.

src="Http link where you have the image stored"/>

^if that’s what you mean. :)

Welp, nothing lol

almost there :)
it should look something like this:

 <img src="www.site.com/picturename.jpg">

Since you're linking an .aslx file and not directly to a picture you should use:

<a href="http://play2.textadventures.co.uk/Play.aspx?id=editor/b1d3cd46-296b-459b-b09e-acfd64098ee9%2fRandom+Pics.aslx" target="_blank">Click here to see my nice cover art!</a>

That should look like this:
Click here to see my nice cover art!

Edit: Added a 'target="_blank"' to make it open in a new window/tab so people don't have to leave the forum while checking it out.

+mrangel Empty cover!? It looks cluttered. I don't think you want to make the stock image smaller, so you would have to remove the tagline.

jmnevil54 Who might you be talking to? Me or someone else?

Sadly, I passed the last revision deadline. I do like that silhouette design; it'd probably cope with being resized much better than mine does. (I didn't realise how bad it looks in thumbnail until the deadline had passed).

Thanks for all the input; I think this is the most conversation one of my books ever provoked :p

(and if you want to embed the image, you need to get the URL of the actual image. In this case

(that's <img src="https://textadventures.blob.core.windows.net/editorgames/b1d3cd46-296b-459b-b09e-acfd64098ee9/Rebuilding Hope.png"/>)

Oh, okay! Now I understand how to do that stuff!
