Global Warming

How can we justify calling global warming an emergency if we're not even trying to stop it?

It's like smoking! It's terrible, but people don't try and stop it!

We claim we are a modern world, but we're no better than we used to be!

We still slaughter animals, we still care not about our future, and we still oppose the people making change!

Everywhere I look, I see people hating on vegans, smoking, drinking, ruining our planet, not giving a [Expletive Deleted] about how the future generation, including me, will end up with a burning, flooded husk of a once-beautiful planet. People are arguing about politics, religion, and all sorts of stupid unnecessary things.

I think it's about time I voiced my opinion about this. It needs to stop!

Who's with me? Or am I the only sane person left?

1 - The "Conservatives"

The "conservative" Christians I talk to say God chose the president, and, if the president does things that lead to events described in Revelations, then so be it.

They usually ignore the whole Antichrist thing, unless I quote it. Then they usually just say that everything is all part of God's plan and that all the Christians will go to Heaven. When I've asked about the non-Christians who will be purposefully positioned to die horrible deaths, they have grinned and shrugged every single time.

This is the believers versus the thinkers, and I'm pretty sure that's how it has always been.

2 - Guilty Pleasures

I smoke.

I eat meat.

I believe people should be able to hunt species which would otherwise overpopulate areas.

I don't like getting drunk, but I think people should be free to drink.

I don't have anything against vegans, but I will call them out if they are wearing leather (and I believe true vegans would approve).

Also, if plants are alive, how do we justify killing them?

#PlantLivesMatter

I do not disagree with anything else, though.

I opine that Big Food is a problem. I only eat local organic foods, but I do eat meat.

So, I eat meat, I smoke, and I'm all for people drinking. BUT I do say we should have gotten off of oil a long time ago. I also strongly believe in preserving the rain forest along with all of our other natural resources. I believe we should protect endangered species, too.

I also think America should welcome refugees, especially from any places with which we have intervened.

I also think Brexit is probably a bad idea.

Oh, and anyone who behaves like Mussolini, Stalin, or the little painter is a tyrant.

So, are we aligned enough to "stand together"? Or is it all or nothing?

Dear Richard

  1. I eat seafood, and it will probably be the last thing I go off before becoming vegan.
  2. People should be allowed to drink, as long as it doesn't result in excessive violence.
  3. I also agree with the 'wearing leather' thing. I think that is basically a cop-out vegan.
  4. People should be allowed to hunt species, on the condition that:
Not overly cruel, like smashing them with a hammer or anything like that, and
It doesn't accidentally result in the extinction of that species.
  5. #PlantLives Do Matter, but seeing how they have no central nervous system or any kind of cognitive functions, they shouldn't be given rights like humans.
  6. Local organic is probably one of the healthiest ways to eat, and I practically only eat organic local.
  7. Big Food is a Big Problem (sorry for the pun), and I think that food labelling should be plain white with the company logo, the nutrition information, and a breakdown of what all the ingredients are. And, food should be made out of ingredients that aren't 30 letters long.
  8. Oil is a bad source of fuel.
  9. We have to protect the amazon (I assume that's the rainforest you were talking about), especially because the amazon provides about 6% of the earth's oxygen. This may not seem like much, but, considering the fragility of the atmosphere, 6% is the difference between life and death.
  10. Endangered species must be protected.
  11. All places should welcome refugees. It balances out in the end.
  12. Brexit is silly.
  13. Terrorists don't have a [Expletive Depleted] brain.

So, yes, we are aligned enough.

Sincerely, Sh4dow.

Just to nitpick, the news recently reported on the Brazilian douchebag Bolsonaro encouraging farmers to burn down the Amazon rainforest. The Amazon actually accounts for about 20% of the earth's oxygen. So you are even more correct than you think.

Input incoming... this is right up my alley.
