Given the choice, I'd go with single. Maybe I'm an anti-social balloon as well but I don't really know many people who would be willing to play a multiplayer game with me. Most of my friends aren't interested in IF full stop and the couple that are are both married and have commitments.

I say both. In multiplayer you lose the utter involvment as there are other people there as well, but you gain a living community. Both are good, they are different.

I like to play multi person games. It's great to have someone to share the fun with. IMHO
