I'm having the craziest proble. For using an item i'm pretty sure you just go to edit "Use Details...
I have an item when its used on another item it ends the game for a loss and shows a picture caption. When i type use item on item in the game it says "you can't see that here." as in the item doesnt exist. But i also have a verb set for the item and when i type the verb it works. But the use item on it doesnt work. I can't understand why.

What exactly did you type on the use details?
Also, the item has to be taken before it can be used on another item, maybe that's the problem? When you edit the 'use...' details of the object that you can use on another object, did you add an object under the 'Objects that (object) can be used on:'. If so, is the name of the object typed properly?

No it's definatley taken and in inventory. The problem is that it's not reading the item that i'm using it on because the message is "you can't see that here." But the item is definatley in the room i checked that like 5 times. And i can even use a verb on the item so its in there to some extent. It's very wierd. The script is that it ends the game and shows a picture window. That works on the verb but not on use the item on it. I think it might be a bug. Prolly not though since there is alot I don't know yet. Just need to consider it.

If you will, could you upload your game as an attachment so I could understand it a little bit more? Or maybe you could explain what you have done.

Ok, I attached a file with two objects (knife and a tree). The knife can be used on the tree. This works (for me)... If this still doesn't work for you, then this is a serious problem. Maybe you can copy the asl code from the asl code viewer, and open up notepad, paste the asl code, and save it as an .asl file. Sometimes, this works for me....
