I'm making my way (slowly) through the games in this year's IFComp and have come to the Quest entry and now I'm wondering if there's a way to change the default font and colour? Black text on a white background has never been a favourite of mine and I can't find a way in the game to change it.

If you have IE8 or earlier, you can customise the colours by changing your Internet Explorer settings (Microsoft have broken this in IE9 unfortunately).

Go to Internet Options, then click the "Colors" button at the bottom to set your preferred text and background colours. Then click the Accessibility button and select the "Ignore colors specified on webpages" option.

I use Firefox, but I wasn't talking about playing games onlines anyway. Playing offline, can the font and colours be changed?

Those were instructions for offline - Quest uses IE to display text, so changing your IE settings will affect Quest's output.

Ah, okay. I have IE9 installed so I guess that means I'm out of luck?

I was going to suggest a simple game file hack, but it looks like there is a lot of hard-coded colour in the game, so it wouldn't work fully.

Give me a few days and I'll implement the option and post an update here.

I've attached a file to this forum post, quest501options.zip.

Extract the contents and copy to C:\Program Files\Axe Software\Quest
(or the same folder under "Program Files (x86)" if you're using 64-bit Windows)

This adds a Tools > Options window where you can override the game colours.

Please give it a go and let me know if you encounter any problems. It will be part of the v5.0.1 release if all goes well.
