lookat v look revisited

guzmere
Hi hope all is well with everyone. I have had an anomaly crop up in my game around 30 locations in. All through the game I have been using the look command to look at all objects, as well as look at and its worked great. But now the only command I can use is look at. I have looked at the lookat command and that seems fine.
Example (look at #object#; x #object#; examine #object#; exam #object#; ex #object#; look #object#), but now it will not work. Hope this is an easy fix otherwise I will have to start over.

Alex
Please attach your game file, no way of knowing what's going on otherwise!

guzmere
Hi Alex I'm sorry about that, but I didn't want to presume too much. But saying that here is the file. And many thanks for looking.

Pertex
Could there be a problem with the included pictures? You didn't attach your images so I deleted all code which calls pictures. After starting the game I have no problems with look ,look at or examine

sgreig
Occam's Razor. I wonder what image code could cause behavior like that though. Weird.

Hi Pertex I have done as you suggested and deleted all the pictures, but alas no difference what so-ever. The pics were all JPG's. It just seems since I added the last location in it went haywire. Although I have checked it again since, I cannot find anything out of the ordinary.
P.S Hello sgreig

Pertex
Just to make it sure: you can't use one of this commands (look at #object#; x #object#; examine #object#; exam #object#; ex #object#; look #object#)? They don't work with any objects and in no room?

guzmere
Hi yes that is right I cannot use (look object,) for it comes up the the default answer, of which I have set to [Huh!].But it will take (look at object). Some of the other commands I have wrote direct and that is why if you write look walls it will answer correctly because the walls are not set as an object. I also have a chair in the game set as an object, so if you type in look chair it will give you the default answer. But if you type in look at chair, you get the correct answer? This has happened with all the objects. Hope I have made myself clear

Pertex
If you delete your look-verb (the [Huh!]-thing :D ) it should work again.

Why did you add these commands (look at, inventory...) to your game?

@Alex: I created a new game and tested 'look man' where it says 'I don't understand your command. Isn't there a '<verbtemplate name="lookat">look</verbtemplate>' missing in the english.aslx?

guzmere
Hi pertex how on earth did you pick that up! I had put that command in from the start, because I didn't like the default message. I obviously put it in the wrong place somehow. That is one eagle eye you've got there. I am not into coding, and I have managed to get through the game so far. I cannot thank you enough for the help you've given me. I really was thinking about starting again. The [inventory], I cannot remember why I put that in. I suspect I was trying something stupid at the time. The [lookat ] command was trying to integrate look with look at. But once again maany thanks for your hard work.
by the way what do you think of it so far. Honestly? Ta ta ta ta ta :D :D :D :D

Pertex
Ähhm, I haven't analysed your game so far, just to find the problem :D But it's an interesting method of coding, keeping all possible commands in the specific rooms. I am looking forward to play your game

guzmere
Hi thanks for the reply, is it possible the way that the separate commands are in each individual room could cause anomalies like that? :?:

Pertex
You should keep it in mind :D If there is a new bug in your game it could be a verb or command

guzmere
Magic, thanks for your hard work. :D :D :D :D
