I have to download Typelib.qlb on: http://www.members.aol.com/agbampton/html/qtips.html but it is specified that this bookshop works only with quest 3.11. Only I possess qdk3.52 and when I use this bookshop with qdk3.52 I have an error of the kind set insufficient memory then qdk get it all wrong, then I have an error kernel32 and my pc gets it all wrong.
Is there a version of typelib for the version 3.52?

I am a novice with questpro and use francais.ldf and I try also to be able to create a game completely in French.

Hi Sabine

I'm fairly certain that the 'out of memory' and 'kernel' errors you are getting do not relate to your use of my 'typelib.qlb'. The library needs Quest 3.11 or a later version to work. I am not aware of any problems being caused with QDK 3.52, I'm working with that combination in testing and all is O.K.

Do you have other programs running when trying to use QDK? I've noticed that if I start QDK with AOL software running I do have all manner of problems with running out of system resources.

I'm using the typelib and Quest 3.52 at the same time, and they are working well together.

As Al suggested, the problem i's probably related to the memory.

By the way I'll send you tomorrow the modified version of a library for using the french directions, and more french verbs.

Greetings all. After a year away finishing a book (now in print, hooray!), I am back in the IF saddle. I have to thank Farvardin for a gentle prompt by email. Nice to be missed.

Now it's time to become reaqainted with QUEST. The manual seems to be updated. When I visited Al (MaDbRiT) Bampton's site for typelib, I read:

N.B. A much improved version of this lib, one that allows non players to wear clothing, has size and weight limits for containers and containable objects and also allows the player to instruct the NPC's to carry out actions is in testing at the moment. This should be released as a 'beta' very soon.

So... mah man, Al, how is this coming along? How "soon" is soon? Is the version of typelib on your site the most current one? When I was last active on the board, I received an amazing amount of help from both both Al and Alex as well as Farvardin and others. Now I'm pouring over all my saved emails and message board posts, and printing from messages over the last year to relearn what I once knew (age sucks). Once I do that, I'll be back with more questions. Always learning.

1st things 1st - Welcome back Chuck!

Well, the beta version(s) of the improved typelib have been to and fro-ing with my testers for many months now (they seem to really like the new bits too, which is cool!). I suffered an annoying setback a month or so back when my much abused PC hard drive expired and I discovered that the automatically scheduled backups I had fondly imagined were safeguarding my work turned out to not actually be readable - the thing was supposed to be verifying a good backup was made but had reported no problems - boy do I hate tape backups!

That said, truly the #1 reason that the improved lib has not 'escaped' yet, is that I knew that with the improvements in Quest ASL that have come along since I wrote a lot of the functionality, I could code a much more elegant library if I were to start over. To do this means a whole new set of development versions - alphas & betas etc. and while I know the end result will be a much better written library, I'm kind of inclined to groan aloud when I think of the amount of work still to do. I have started to do this - but of course that reduces my available time to improve the old version...

While I usually subscribe to the 'if it ain't broke don't mend it' theory, and the latest improvements to the old typelib do basically work OK, I think (know) I really OUGHT to press on and finish the re-write of the whole thing. However with the currrent treatment(s) for my ongoing health problems leaving me feeling almost permanently exhausted and very uncomfortable, I really can't face doing much of anything at present.

Hopefully when I'm feeling better I will be able to make some significant progress.
