Scrolling Text

Hello, community!

First of all, i would like congratulating the team for the upgrades on Quest's new version. I really appreciated.

Now, let's go to the core of this topic. I decided using the framed picture on some pages, and realized that the text which were perfectly sized to fit on a single page is not working anymore. It demands me creating new intermediary pages and split the text again, now to house the framed pictures. However, an idea came to my mind. Is there any not hardly complex way of avoiding text to auto-scroll down to the end, so the player doesn't need to roll it back to start reading the page? I suppose it keeps the problem of scrolling the page down, but the player will not need scrolling up to start reading and then scroll down as he/she reads the page.

You can change the font in the game options.
I prefer to cut down on the dialogue anyway. "Why make the player read too much?" is my motto. Or I'd edit the picture.

I thought someone had a way to start reading text at the top.
There are a few ways to edit image size in the display, I believe, but I wouldn't know anything about it. I would just edit the picture's size in mspaint, photoshop, or an online image editor.

Hmmm... I see. I already reduced my images intended sizes by 50%. I cannot resize it more. I think i will really need adjusting the text and creating more pages for the game. Thank you, anyway. Perhaps i should go doing this after deciding what font type i will be using. So i risk doing the same work over and over again.

I came up with a simple and somewhat elegant idea: Instead of resizing all the text and create more pages to fit text in, i decided removing the framed pictures and creating an object to each relevant part named "Scene". By using the "Look at" button, the ame displays the relevant scene to the player. So, he/she may read the text first and then - if willing to - look at the relevant scene. It automatically gives the player an option of no graphics playing for safer situations, as i am working on an adult and sexual themed game.

I decided adding this here because may become a tip for fellow developers.

the text which were perfectly sized to fit on a single page

On what device? Just a word of warning: do not attempt to fit your text to the screen. There are so many resolutions, you can't win.

Look at your game on two different phones, or a phone then a tablet, or two different computers, or on the same computer with the window maximized then with the window set to Quest's default width and height.

(I'm not trying to bring you down, I promise. This may be the most constructive criticism ever.)

I see. I meant making the text do not scroll down when playing on full screen on a PC. Of course the player may run it on other modes. I am just setting an ideal, for convenienece, but i am not trying to force any setting.

playing on full screen on a PC

On what size screen? I have access to three PCs right now, and all three of them have different heights and widths. So, a game prints differently on each screen.

Again, I'm not trying to be negative at all. Just pointing out that you are tailoring your game for one screen. I did that with my first game, and it made me a little sad when I learned that I'd wasted all that time and energy on the way the words lined up each time text was printed to the screen.

I understand. I supposed that different screens would just resize everything. I understand the point now. Well, anyway, i found removing the framed picture and placing it as an option for the player a good general solution anyway. Perhaps now i may return on typing a lot of texts again. lol.

Thanks for the tip.
