I downloaded a textadventure and quest 5.8 on my android tablet, but can't open them. Do I need to download a specific app from the Google play store to play them, if so which one, or do I need to just give up?

The downloadable version of Quest is a Windows application. It's not going to run on Android. You'll have to play the online version of the game on the site, in your browser.

I have a question to add to this one. Even if playing in browser, I noticed some games open in "iplayif" what is that exactly? Sorry, new to this and trying to figure out the best way to give users access to my game but not have it offered to the internet as a whole while still hosted online. Thanks!

I think "iplayif" is called Parchment. If that opens it will mean the game was written in something like Inform rather than Quest.
