You awaken from the darkness to the soft pattering of raindrops falling all around. A pile of rubble sits beneath you, a smoldering tank to your side. Buildings ripped of their insides loom overhead, smoke curling around their skeleton-like remains. Intermittent far off explosions engulf the soundscape, and far away you hear the distinct creaking of tank treads coming closer. Suddenly you remember your objective: to defend the Allies from the Tiger tank!
Beyond the edge of the town clearing, a wounded fellow GI [[beckons you to join him]].
The town clearing however is littered with rubble and Axis mines. A broken down Hellcat tank sits in the opposite direction so you [[go to the Hellcat Tank]].Navigating around the rubble-laden courtyard, you successfully reach your wounded comrade. Clutching his chest, fellow GI tells you the city is composed of 16 quadrants and the Tiger Tank patrols up and down each street. You are currently in the upper leftmost quadrant, quadrant Alpha. Each quadrant is named sequentially using phonetic alphabet going left to right, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie etc. The Tiger tank moves from Quadrant to Quadrant, prowling through the city streets. The only weapons powerful enough to penetrate the Tiger Tank's steel are a M9 Bazooka and a tank mine.
Fellow GI tells remembers there are three tank mines in the broken down Hellcat tank in [[Quadrant Charlie]]. To reach Quadrant Charlie you must traverse Quadrant Bravo, thereby potentially exposing yourself to the Tiger Tanks sightline.
One Quadrant south however, in Quadrant Echo, is a bazooka with two rockets and you decide to [[travel to Quadrant Echo]].Inside the Hellcat tank you find three tank mines and a map. The map is of the city, split up into 16 quadrants. Each is named phonetically, with the upper leftmost titled Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc going left to right. You are currently in Quadrant Charlie. You hear movement from around the corner in Quadrant Delta.
Judging by the sound of the Tiger tank, you believe you can run into the street of Quadrant Delta and [[place a mine in Quadrant Delta]] before the tank arrives.
Believing the tank is too close, you instead decide to [[run back to Quadrant Bravo]] away from the sound of the tank.Inside the Hellcat tank you find three tank mines and a map. Believing the tank is too close, you instead decide to [[run back to Quadrant Bravo]] away from the sound of the tank.Tearing aside through the rubble searching for the metal tube you find the M9 Bazooka. Hefting it onto your shoulder you collect the two rockets in kind.
You hear a distant rumbling a few quadrants away, and decide you want to gain a better perspective. One Quadrant East in Quadrant Foxtrot you spot a small shiny object with which can be used to look around corners. You run into Quadrant Foxtrot and [[pick up the shiny object]].
The distant rumbling seems to be heading your way, and believe the Tank will soon be in a nearby quadrant. Looking up the street, you can see into Quadrant Foxtrot and [[fire a rocket into the street of Quadrant Foxtrot]].As you step foot into the street of Quadrant Delta, you prime the cap on the mine and place it into the street. As you look up from the mine up the street before you, you see the metal monstrosity that is the Tiger Tank roll into view. Its immense size and presence paralyze you into place, and as you sit gazing at the beast its single turret turns towards you with a mechanical whirring noise. Seconds later a barely audible command is ushered from within the tank to fire, and with a deafening boom the street beneath you is transformed to ash and debris, carrying you with it. You die.Back in Quadrant Bravo, the sound of the Tiger tank is near still.
Clutching the mines, you decide it best to brave the open streets and [[place a mine in Quadrant Bravo]] and wait for the tank.
Fearing the tank will too quickly be upon you, you make the decision to [[move to Quadrant Alpha]]. Picking up the shiny object you see it is a part of a mirror. The rumbling of tank treads grows close, and you decide to stick the mirror out around the corner, and you see the rubble shaking on the ground in Quadrant Echo.
You step out of the building and decide it most scrupulous to [[launch your final rocket into the street of Quadrant Echo]].
Seeing is not believing for you however, and decide to wait until the tank comes into view and [[remain in Quadrant India staring at the mirror]]. Careening into the street of Quadrant Foxtrot, the rocket smashes into the building containing the shiny object, collapsing the structure. Immediately following the commotion, the sound of the tank treads are heard ceasing, and subsequently begin thundering towards you.
Reloading the M9 Bazooka, a feeling tells you the Tiger tank is seconds away from appearing in the smoke filled streets of Quadrant Foxtrot and choose to [[fire another rocket into Quadrant Foxtrot]].
Growing worried from the commotion, you rush away from the sound of the tank in search of another mirror-like object, and [[head south to Quadrant India]].As the rocket leaves your Bazooka, time seems to slow to a crawl. From around the corner and into the street of Quadrant Foxtrot, an armored behemoth emerges into view: the Tiger Tank. The rocket, emerging from the end of the weapon, seems to take on a mind of its own. Barreling up the street towards the tank it sputters with fury, and smashes deep into the Tiger's armored haunches: a direct hit. A second later, a fantastic boom engulfs the entire Quadrant in a storm of fire, and the turret of the beast goes flying into the sky like a fireball. You win. As you head into Quadrant India, your luck suffers dearly and you step on a mine. You lose.As you step foot into the street of Quadrant Delta, you prime the cap on the mine and place it into the street. With an air of confidence you decide to [[return to the Quadrant Bravo and place a mine]]
You decide it best to [[place a mine in Quadrant Alpha]].As you step foot into the street of Quadrant Bravo, you prime the cap on the mine and place it into the street. You die.You intuition was correct. Soon after placing the mind in the street of Quadrant Alpha, the fearsome Tiger tank rolls into view up the street. Watching from behind the safety of a building's wall, you see the tank creep towards the mine. As the tank treads rise and fall ever nearer, the edge of one of the tracks clips the mine and triggers an immense explosion, knocking you off your feet. As you get up to witness the scene before you, a fireball of flame and burning metal meet your eyes. You win.As the rocket leaves your Bazooka, time seems to slow to a crawl. Your decision to remain staring at the mirror has cost you dearly; as soon as you made the decision to stay planted, waiting for the tank, the awesome machine rolls into view. A glint of light refracts from the mirror in the direction of the tank, and within seconds the turret is fixated to your position. A bellow of fire erupts from the tank turret, and a screaming round transforms you and the building corner into fire and ashes. Game over.
