(t8n:"zoom")+(link-reveal:"How does lead get into the air?")
[Lead enters the air in a variety of different ways. Lead can enter the air as a particle when it is being mined for human use. Lead is commonly used in batteries, paint, and industrial fuel. To reduce the amount of lead entering our air, lead based fuels are no longer allowed to be used in cars. However, lead based fuels are still used to power airplanes. Meaning airplane exhaust adds lead pollution to the air. Lead as an ingridient in paint is also being limited because the paint fumes add lead pollution to the air, which is toxic. Lead is found in batteries is released into the air as the batteries are thrown away and breaking down in landfills. Proper disposal of batteries is very important to managing lead and other harmful chemicals in our air.]
