I want to be able to use the quest software in dark rooms, but it's horribly bright and really hurts my eyes. Is there a way to have a dark mode? I know dark mode extensions work on browsers but I can't find a software solution.

I have toyed around with the Quest 5 source code many times, and I tried to do this once or twice. There isn't just one setting for the background color; in fact, I stopped counting at 20 different bits of code I'd changed, and there were still patches of brightness all over the place. I think each individual menu has to be modified. I don't know for sure. Maybe someone who actually knows how it works could give it a shot, but, due to the lack of people who know how that old stuff works, I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen.

On the bright side (no pun intended -- meh, who am I kidding?), the Quest 6 editor (currently in its early development stage) will have this feature.

Until Quest 6 comes out (next year at the earliest), I smart-aleckly advise you to turn down the brightness using your system settings. :)
