Zombie Apocalypse

Luke

You wake up to your alarm clock buzzing. It's 7 A.M. and it's time to get ready for school. You drowsily hit the snooze button and fall back asleep. You are woken up 15 minutes later by your alarm clock again. You angrily dismiss the alarm and get up. Ugh. Mondays are the worst. You pull on a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, put your phone in your pocket and go downstairs. You pour yourself a bowl of corn flakes and dump in some milk. You grab a spoon and are ready to dig in when you realize something; your parents aren't down here yet, eating breakfast as usual. Maybe they're sleeping in, you think. You begin to eat when you hear a noise from upstairs. It's a scratching noise, with some groans and moans mixed in. You get a little bit freaked out. You grab an umbrella as a weapon and walk upstairs. The sound is coming from your parents' room. Loud scraping and groaning noises are coming from right behind the door. Shaking, you cautiously open the door a crack. Suddenly, a pale, bloody hand comes out, and the groaning intensifies. You scream and drop the umbrella, then sprint downstairs and out the front door. Your neighbor is standing across the street. You run up to him. "Mr. Smith! Mr. Smith! Call the police!" you yell. Mr. Smith turns around, revealing his pale white and bloody face. One of his eyes is missing. You scream in shock and fall over backward, hurting your head. Mr. Smith lunges towards you. "STAY AWAY!" you scream, and you kick him over. Before he can get back up, you're on your feet and running. Ahead of you is a group of people on the street. You yell for help. They turn around, revealing their horrible faces to you. They start shambling towards you. "Oh my god" you croak as you turn the left and run. You scramble through a neighbor's yard and hop over the fence. The Johnston river is a few meters ahead. You run down the riverbank and hide in the brush and the trees. You throw up into the river. After 10 minutes, your hyperventilating stops, and your head is clear enough to think. You need help. You pull out your phone and dial 911, but there is no response. A feeling of dread washes over you. Could the zombie apocalypse, shown in TV, books, movies, and video games, be actually happening? You always thought the apocalypse would be cool, with all the blowing off zombie's heads and breaking into buildings, but it's actually horrible. But you're getting hungry and thirsty. Where do you go to find food and water?
