Tutorial Support

Hello,

I'm still relatively new to the whole interactive fiction and text based gaming scene. My HTML, CSS, and JavaScript programing skills are rudimentary at best and I really struggle to make progress using Quest. Does anybody know where I could see live demonstrations or recordings of people making games in the Quest engine? The only video tutorials I've found were on Youtube and sadly, there were not really helpful.

There is a demo game creation on the site, but...
It's just a start, but once you get started everything else is just building on that.
My background is with Basic programming, and the easiest way to learn it was to buy books
with programs you typed in. Learned a lot that way. but there isn't anything like that for Quest
because everything is already "typed in" and you just go from there.
Personally, I think about 50% of the coding is too advanced for "just a simple text game".
But that could be because most of it is beyond what I understand.
There is this: http://docs.textadventures.co.uk/quest/#Tutorial
It may be the place to start.

But true, if there was a section here for "just beginners" with JUST the basic code for a basic game
IE: how to make and organize rooms, layout and maps
Objects: how to make them, interact with them, pick up, drop, adding verbs like throw...
Commands: how to create new commands, when to make new commands, difference between commands and verbs...
Moving room to room is easy, but what if you need to "jump over a gap"? "climb a wall"? "Drop down a hole"???
(and so much more)

Besides what DarkLizerd had said, you can always ask coding questions in the forum.
