Is there a way to change between Gamebook and text adventures?

I am reaching a point in my story for my text adventure that I feel like would work better as a gamebook rather than as a text adventure where you input your own responses. Like how early on in the game you can type in "Ask Sam about _" ? I would rather have it now be where the character has a conversation where they have options to choose from and events that occur based around their choices.

I honestly have no idea if this question makes any sense, sorry!

If you are talking about editor options, then you can't change it. You either work on text adventure (type in commands), or gamebook (choose an option/response).

If you mean gameplay wise... it is up to you how many options you give to the player.

I have a feeling I did not answer your question, but it is not clear what are you looking for.

Hah yeah perhaps not! I guess the best way to summarize my question is "How do I make branching conversations with different outcomes?"

And are you working in text adventure editor or gamebook editor?

There is a library you can use (desktop version only):
