O_VAUGHAN
In another thread, Tr0n, you accused me of being Zelimos. This is not the case, my friend. I am not he, he is not me, ok? You also said a lot of hurtful things including the insinuations you made after I said I liked making puzzles. I may just go and get the quote in a minute to prove it.

I'll tell you something, Tr0n. It seems like you like to jump on this bully bandwagon when the great davidw shows up. I'll admit that davidw has probably forgotten more about game making than I'll ever learn but that doesn't give him or you an excuse for senseless bullying of regular forum members.

Davidw is highly respected for his achievements and his opinions are held in high regard in the gaming community. Unfortunately much is lost due to his character flaw. I am sure that his smugness is legendary. Almost every post that I have read of davidw's is an insult to another forum member. In a strange case of irony, you need him to post here yet you really can't afford the baggage that he brings into the space with his horrible attitude and condescending tone. It is a terrible position to be in. I just wish that you wouldn't jump on the bandwagon when he shows up. It may impress davidw but the regular members are not amused by it.

Here is the quotation from the board games thread. At first I thought it was benign but now I'm not so sure. So you see, Tr0n, you weren't referring to a 9-sided puzzle as you claimed in the Zelimos farewell thread.

DISCLAIMER: I shall comment on this thread.... This is meant as an observation not to cause any flamage.

my comment:
I thought I was the only one that noticed this. I guess I was the only one that publicly acknowledged it...before now that is.

Oh gawd...

O_Vaughan, twas I what said you twere Zelimos, not Tron.

Or if not Zelimos under a new name, at least someone else who posts lots of messages attacking other people then acts all surprised when he gets given a hard time. You're probably on the verge of posting a "goodbye" message because "the forum sucks" and "you're all losers", after which you'll carry on posting on the forum as regularly as you ever did.

As for your obsession with taking issue over the most minor thing (like Tron disagreeing with over a puzzle), that's another thing that puts you firmly in the Zelimos camp. If I was to comment about, say, the fact that your hair isn't a very nice colour, would you spend the next fifteen years debating the issue at every opportunity?

Another reason why you're like Zelimos? Threads like this.

Almost every post that I have read of davidw's is an insult to another forum member.

The same could equally be said to apply to you, O_Vaughan. Yet by your own admission, I contribute a lot to the forum. What do you contribute?

Please get your facts right before you moan about things.
Also PM the person, instead of trying to make the whole thing PUBLIC..

Now onto your problem;
As David said, I did not accuse you of being Zelimos. Go on, take a look! I *might* have said "I wouldn't be suprised" or "he probably is" or something, but I am not willing to make that sort of judgement - there's still reasonable doubt on that (and the IP's seem fairly different last time I checked).

Again, where am I 'bullying' someone?
Please give me that quote!

'Davidw is highly respected for his achievements... in the gaming community'
Really? I didn't think that much of his abilities, not knowing what he's done myself.
'I just wish that you wouldn't jump on the bandwagon when he shows up'
ANY post, I would have made, regardless of who has 'joined the conversation'. I join no-one when I post my replies, I simply;
1) Observe
2) Reply to those observations with either fact, or opinion. Where I state opinion, I user opinionated text - such as "suppose" or "i reckon" or "I think" or other such words. Very much easy to tell apart from fact, such as "it is" or "I did" or "I would".
3) Laugh at any jokes.
4) Look through posts and perhaps grab quotes, to use as facts.
... Just because David posts before me, does not mean I am 'jumping on the band-wagon'. I am merely stating a response to my own observations - which is only what we can do in life.

'It may impress Davidw but the regular members are not amused'
So it may - I don't really care. I'm not here to impress or amuse anyone. I'm here to be me.

Right, now onto your second post;

The only puzzle I've found interesting was this 10-piece thing, which was all different sizes and you had to arrange it so it went into a specific shape... It came in 10-20-50 and 100(or 1000) piece set's, and if you did the best one's first, you could win £10,000 or something.

Ooooo, look at that.. I said 10 piece puzzle! And in the Zelimos thread I typed;

As far as I remember I made a quote about not liking puzzles, except one - which was like a hexagon shaped puzzle.. 8-piece or something..
Actually, I'll just check..

And I did check!!
I just didn't find it neccissary to correct my 8 to a 10... Or I couldn't remember if it was 8 or 10, I didn't think the exact number mattered. I could always try and dig about on Sunday through the attic to give you the EXACT count..

And where is this innuendo?
You just pulled up a quote where I say I don't like puzzles and I find them boring.. And where I'd find it better to just cut up a piece of paper that I drew on. It'd give me loads of practice at drawing, at cutting up paper, and it'd be more fun for me (or those around me who don't know what the finished product may be)... It would also conserve chemicals going into the environment as I'd only use paper and ink - easy to recycle, rather than machine-made, plastic-coated, cardboard etc, probably spewing alot into the atmosphere.
Again, should I have put in a disclaimer to my post saying "beware, this post contains personal opinion and as such you read it at your own risk of being personally attacked because I may not like something!"..
Do you actually interact with ANYONE with a seperate opinion than yoursI could remark more about that last line, but that would be getting into flame war area.
I think I'll stick to that.

Please, OV, keep things like this in PM's, unless you want other people posting their opinions to it.. And also, try to get your fact's straight.

headspace
I thought it was going to be O_Vaughn that lost his marbles first, then Davidw.

Tr0n, you are the most level headed of the lot. don't lose your way, just when this whole story reaches it's peak.

paul_one
OK, I won't.... :?

CheerleaderChick
I wont eieither. :)

O_VAUGHAN
Well, Tr0n, based on Davidw's email link and webpage link I am assuming that he is the same person who has authored dozens of games and written many reviews on many different games. If I am mistake then sorry for that.

Between the 2 of you you have got me quite addled and maybe I should have gone back and read your diatribes again before I accused you of saying that Zelimos and I were the same. It's true, Davidw is the one who did that. But not until you set him up for the kill with your posts saying that I had written something that didn't make sense which is not true. If you would re-read it and give it some thought with regard to the context you will see that it does indeed make sense and is highly complimentary to Zelimos.

With regard to your post about puzzles which I will re-publish here in bold print:

I can't stand puzzles.. They're just so boring..
If I want to get a pointless picture, cut it up, and put it all together again - I'm sure I'll draw on a piece of A4 paper and put it up with scissors.

on its own, I suppose it's not so bad but you posted it so close to my post about liking to do puzzles that I can not help but think you were setting me up for a confrontation with davidw or the two of you.

As is evident to you and davidw's responses to me in this thread I am calling tag-team here. Please note that I am not flaming or namecalling. and If we were talking about this IRL, my voice would be calm and collected. I am just saying how I feel.

Cordially,
OV

What...? In what way is Tron saying that he doesn't like puzzles an attempt to set you up for a confrontation with me?

Geez. I preferred it when you just outright flamed people for no reason. At least I could understand what you were talking about then.

paul_one
It's your fault that Dabid is allowed to come here and post.
Why else would you have chosen the public forum for such a discussion?
I could call you and unknown 'tag-teaming' against David and myself.. It doesn't make it anymore true just because he's posted here and agree'd with you.

I never really thought it important to follow Davidw's links.. Any info I wanted he'd give if I asked (I'd always assumed anyway).
I see it more of a testiment, as I don't remember him asking people to follow his links, or going around saying he is the best because he's been around everywhere, doing ever-so-much.
He is, in my eyes, a classical, neo-nazi, programmer.

But not until you set him up for the kill with your posts saying that I had written something that didn't make sense which is not true. If you would re-read it and give it some thought with regard to the context you will see that it does indeed make sense and is highly complimentary to Zelimos.

Actually, if you go re-read my reply, I gave you FOUR possible outcomes from that mess that you call a sentance (well, you may or may-not).

but you posted it so close to my post about liking to do puzzles

So now your saying I can only reply after a couple of posts have gone by - and that the topic has evolved and moved on - so that I appear to be dragging up an old subject? That's preposterous!

that I can not help but think you were setting me up for a confrontation with davidw or the two of you.

How did you figure that out exactly?
Were you just sitting there and suddenly thought "you know, he's just wanting David to come in and say 'yeah me too' or 'yeah you suck', and then he wants me to reply to him saying 'stop siding with Davidw' ... Even though in this case it would have been David siding with him... Not that it makes any sense - but what the hell!".

As is evident to you and davidw's responses to me in this thread I am calling tag-team here.

Fine... I'm personally calling it "posting in a public forum".

If you wanted a one-on-one conversation I've already said, at both the top and bottom of my previous post, that PM's are the way to go.
Now instead of admitting you were wrong, on either one, you try and shift the blame onto me yet again.
I'm in the right frame of mind to edit any of your posts with anything concerning this and just leave them blank - but instead I'm going to leave this post here (deciding not to lock this topic).
If you want to continue in the public domain, then fine - but realise that YOU choose this, and YOU leave yourself open for ANYONE to post their opinions.
Or you can PM me, and resolve this one-to-one.

[EDIT]
Removed some name-calling... It made me look petty, and even though it was true - I didn't like it.

Overcat
I don't usually give a sh*t. But Tr0n - it's sentence, and a consistant (heh) misspell over severel (har) posts.

I never made a big deal about mentioning anything in my sig because at the end of the day it's not worth mentioning. There's a link to my website there because I have a website (though it has little to do with Quest) and there's my e-mail address in there in case anyone wanted to e-mail me. Lots of people have their websites and e-mail addresses in their sigs.

paul_one
That reminds me - I should really remove mine - and delete the content from my web-server... it's just sitting there getting stale.

Thanks for the spelling correction overcat - I have never been able to get that sentence word into my skull - I've been trying and failing for the past 10 years :S... Kinda like those people who can't say envelope (I knew someone who couldn't!).
I have the odd word or two which I constantly mis-spell. If anyone points it out, I'm fine with it (also, I do frequently check words against dictionaries when it's stuff like stories/important stuff).

I think I'm off to remove my site..
