Good Night

A smallish game in response to my challenge for a short little game that can be played in less than twenty minutes.

Less of a "game" and more of an interaction, this story hopefully takes you on a trip through a the mind of a tortured soul who has experienced love and loss.

Please let me know of any typos - I'm sure there might be a few as I published at 2:33am after an all-nighter.

FYI - There are NO links to click. I underlined words to help the player consider what might be important. These objects (and some others) you can examine - 'x [object]' - or you can think about the
object - 't [object]'

This is really just a story and the more you think about or examine the more you can understand. On your first play through, really take your time and read and absorb. This will make the ending more impactful I think. The second play-through will kind of ruin the effect because you will be aware of the twist that is coming.


Pretty neat.
I think the font was a bit distracting; it's hard to get into the character's head when I have to read twice to make out the name of an object.


Thank you. That is one of the things I plan on changing in the update. I'm looking for a "scary looking" font and that is the best I could find for now. It will be switched in the next day or two. =)

Also on the "fix" list:

  1. Width size - in a few instances the text runs off the right side of the page. Not a huge issue but known and will be fixed.
  2. A few grammar errors/misspellings - I think they are few and far between but still hunting them down.

FYI - adjusted the font style and color to make it a easier on the eyes and to fit the width of the screen (thanks helping on both accounts, KV)

I got quite confused once I got to "your nightmare has begun" ... try thinking or looking at the same things more than once, because I think the item that triggers the next scene only works after a certain time has passed or something; the first time I tried it gave me no response, just another prompt with no output.

Correct. Once you see "Your nightmare has begun", your view on certain things have changed.

You realize you are no longer 'asleep' but in a very real nightmare. Continue looking at things or thinking about them, especially those things that seemed substantial in the 'awake' part of the game. The more you think and examine, the more the story makes sense. At this point, you will have so many turns until the game ends.
