From a game design perspective, there is a lot of repetitive back tracking and flip switching, something which should in general be avoided. The gameplay just wasn't engaging. I have a pretty good memory so making a map wasn't necessary. That could definitely have added to the experience though.
The story was okay and I liked the ending though it felt sort of cliched. A lot of the notes gave little relevant information about what to do. Also, the notes sort of bled together. The narrative voice of the notes was well done though, with some nice vocab. Also you leave a lot to the players imagination which I think is a good thing. Over all, the plot felt sort of bland to me personally.
I'm giving it a three.
