Downloading Games

steve the gaming guy
Alex, I know a lot of games do not get released regularly, but how difficult would it be to add a counter on the download game page that shows how many people have downloaded each one?
I was curious even before my game was loaded onto the site. Right now, you can only judge by how many comments have been left.

What difference does it make? How many times a game has been downloaded doesn't indicate whether people liked it or not. I've downloaded plenty of games before that I really disliked.

Alex
My log files show that gooth.zip has been downloaded 6 times so far. Not quite earth-shattering yet :)

For more exposure you might want to try the IF Archive at http://www.ifarchive.org/ and posting to the rec.games.int-fiction newsgroup.

ok thanks, Alex. I'm not sure yet if I'd send this particular game on but definitely for future reference, I'll send games to the ifarchive.

thanks again,

I would recommend releasing them here first and getting some opinions. You'll only irritate people if you release a bad or semi-bad game to the IFarchive.

Yes, that is exactly my point by saying "I'm not sure yet if I'd send this particular game on but definitely for future reference, I'll send games to the ifarchive"
Sending my first game ever to this website only was my goal. I don't have any intentions currently to send games elsewhere. Unless they are 'good' or 'semi-good'

:D My first two games were horrible. I rated them 'one'
