Removing games

francisstokes
Right.
There are some REALLY BAD GAMES on the games page.I'm sure i speak for everyone when i say games like Killer Syringe should be deleated.
Not only would this make hard working game makers happy, but it would also free up web space for Alex.

davidw
A big resounding YES!

Then again, if you start deleting games just because they're bad, how many games would there be left afterwards? I've probably played 3 or 4 that don't deserve removing.

francisstokes
Well,if a games not good, then why play it.

Christopher
I agree with deleting some of the poorer games (they never should have been put up IMO), but do you think you could reword the question so it was a bit less biased and, well, rude?

METALGod32
I Voted yes as well, Bad Games"in my opinion" are usually made by people who don't try but rather just put out a game piece"just to get there name out there", like for example, a bad game is a game thats only 10% done but yet it's out on the webpage, i spent over 12 hours straite non stop, 3 days straite just for my game clock alone...LOL, so total i spent no less then 36 hours on my game clock alone...and it's finally done, bug free...LOL, anyways yeah delete games that merrit it :)

I love comments like that.

How do you know if a game is good until you play it?

francisstokes
well, i go by reveiws.1 star is something that i wouldn't download.definatly.

im not usally this cynical but people that release games that they have spent about 10 minutes on really annoy me.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

davidw
Unfortunately only going by the ratings is a waste of time. Have you seen how many dire games have got multiple ratings of 5? Either there are a lot of people out there who really enjoy crap games or the author just votes for his own game a couple of dozen times under different names.

francisstokes
This is true, but it narrows it down.

Either there are a lot of people out there who really enjoy crap games or the author just votes for his own game a couple of dozen times under different names.

The second is probably the right one! :D

Cryophile
Yeah that happens a lot. Miraculously there seems to be a few supposedly different users that make the same uncommon spelling errors and such. Coincidence?

GameBoy
where is the "no, everybody should have a chance to submit their games" option?

METALGod32
But Honestly it's no big deal wether the game is crap or not, it's free and was made with Quest...LOL

Christopher

Yeah, that’s what I meant. The options should be: ‘Only reasonable games should be allowed into the games archive, and all others should be removed’ and ‘even those not as skilled in using Quest should get a chance to upload their games’.

Jesus.... Is the world coming to an end?

He actually came up with a reasonable, decent and down-right polite thing to say!

Farvardin
I voted "no", but I meant : "no, everybody should have a chance to submit their games"

I think there should be 2 places for downloading games : the "normal" one, with no games selection (like right now), and a second one with a selection of the best games, or at least the games most of us could agree they are above average.

steve the gaming guy
I'm leaning towards Farvardin's response.

A "good game" category and a "time-wasting game" category.

But then again, I also agree with davidw's response in regards to not being able to judge how good a game is based on the rating. So who is to decide what games get deleted or moved to a different category?

davidw
I suppose the best thing to do would be to get a group of people who between them download and play all the games. They don't need to play the entire game to get an idea of whether it's good or not. After that, they compile a list of what's good and what isn't, submit it to Alex and see what he says.

Of course, finding anybody willing to play some of the tripe on the main page might be a task itself...

francisstokes
We should should set up a games testing commity, and test EVERY game that gets submitted, and give alex our overall score. If its good enough, then it should be added.

GameBoy
i'll be up for that.

METALGod32
who ever decides to start this group, put me in it!, we'll even make a webpage for the group :)

francisstokes
I'll email alex with the idea and see what he says.Post your name if your up for it.

francisstokes
ive PMed alex with the idea. We'll just have to wait and find out.I'm thinking if it goes through mabey five or six testers?

Alex
I think it's a good idea for the games that already exist in the archive.

However from what francisstokes is saying (and from the PM I was sent) it sounds like you want to test new games when they are submitted? I'd rather stick with the way things are for now, as I've been a lot less lenient with submissions recently.

davidw
I think it'd be a good start to go through all the games currently on the site and decide which are proper games and which aren't. New games aren't coming along at such a rate that it really needs a group to test them beforehand.

Christopher
I'll volunteer to test games!

007bond
I'd help to. It'll give me something to do.

francisstokes
im happy with that.

Farvardin
I think it would be quite rude to make a "wasting time games" category, but if one is for good games and the second one for basic games, it would be sufficient. After all anybody can try to create game.

And I don't want also my soon-to-be-released game will be labelled such ;)

steve the gaming guy
Hehe, yeah I know. I was just joking about that category!

Christopher
(gets an idea!)
How about we divide the games into these two catagories: Regular games, and top 10 games. Everyone can vote for their favourite games every three months or so, and the top ten get special honours (and free upgrade to Quest Pro! *gets hit* Just joking... )

Going by reviews puts an awful lot of trust in someone to tell you what to
think. I'd rather just play it myself and decide if it sucks or not.

davidw
Not to mention the fact that half of the glowing reviews are most likely written by the author under a different name.

Exactly!

Hey stop hitting him. Who was supposed to be hitting you anyway...Alex? haha

I think you're onto something though. I guess you're saying have like a poll or something with the top ten games and then everyone votes on those???

007bond
Yeah, I think an open poll would be better then a bunch of guys on some form of committee. Say we're all boys, and there's a game that only girls would really like, what would we do then?

francisstokes
That would work if alex had a seperate forum section for game ratings.
