Spell Check

steve the gaming guy
I've seen other forums powered by BBCode (or weblinks ending in .php) where the format for posting appears exactly as we see here except underneath the message, there is a button to do a spellcheck on what's been written.

It seems that more and more members are needing this option. I'm posting this as a new topic in general as to not point fingers and intentionally embarrass the ones who seemingly cannot spell very well.

Is the spell check option available in this forum? :?:

I reckon just hitting preview and reading over what you have written is what people need to do, especially after writing a very long post

francisstokes
What about the people that can't tell if their spelling is incorrect?

I think the spell check option is a good idea.

steve the gaming guy
...exactly

and Davidw....hahahaha, that had me rolling...

davidw
Wot? eye ope u int makin fuhn o mee!

If you are really concerned about spelling (as I sometimes am, because I'm a remedial speller) then try typing your message in MS Word and corecting it before copying it into the bulletin board windo.

steve the gaming guy
I'm afraid that only happens when the person who can't spell actually knows they can't spell.

francisstokes
And you dont get word standard anymore, and i have no use for it, so thats impossible for me.

davidw
Funnily enough, everyone I know who can't spell worth a damn thinks that their spelling is fine and wouldn't even dream of using a spellcheck. Most likely, the only people who would use it are those who don't need it.

Elexxorine
lol soooo true

francisstokes
A bit off topic here but Davidw, how did you get a Gmail account? Why did they pick you for it?

Cryophile
He was most likely invited. I have a gmail account but I don't use it. I don't like gmail.

francisstokes
I heard Gmail is 10 times better than Hotmail (like IE and firefox lol).

Cryophile
It is way better than hotmail. Hotmail is the bottom feeder of emails. I just don't like the gmail interface very much. It's just a personal preference.

francisstokes
What do you use?

davidw
I won my Gmail account in the IFComp last year.

paul_one
I've been offered once or twice... I even think I got an email from google too - to my hotmail account no less!

But I didn't go for it - no point as I have a public and private address and no need for such a high amount of email storage space...

And I don't really have an opinion on where hotmail is on the rung. I mean it shows me the message headers, it disables most content for me and filters out 99% of the spam that goes into it. Seeing as how I only recieve stuff through it, it seems fine to me. (stuff refers to newsletters/spam).

Elexxorine
slayer: why not give your account away or atleast use use invites?

theRazor
Are you looking to get a g-mail account, francisstokes? I have an invite (as yet unused) in my e-mail in-box. If I register an account then I'll have something like twenty slots to invite new people. If you are looking for an account I'll go ahead and get you one. Just let me know.

francisstokes
That would be great thanks.Jus PM with what i have to do.

my email is stokesie (at sign) hotmail.co.uk

I think Im Dead
I believe it's 50 invites you get, and that's each day, non-stackable.

Elexxorine
i'll have one too (please)

theRazor
Alright Francisstokes and elexxorine, I'm setting up my account right now. Francis, I e-mail you your invite ASAP. Elexxorine, I'll need your e-mail before I can invite you. Hope this works for you.
