Does anyone remember Kings Quest?

Alice
Hi all,
Ages ago there was a series of games released by Sierra called "Kings Quest" I played the fifth one and loved it, but never got around to the others. A few days ago I stumbled accross Kings Quest VI in a second hand shop, I have been wanting to play it for years... So I dug out an old computer that would still run system 7 (Mac) and set about installing it. Unfortunately it looks like I am short a disk!! I have 8 disks and it is asking me for disk 9... does anyone know where I might be able to find such a thing?! Anywhere that maybe I can download it ...or something??

ARGGH! HELP!!

Take it back and get a refund... Then I would suggest trying to download it through bit torrent.

If you PM steve the gaming guy on here, he may be able to help you out as he's played a couple of them.

Tr0n would be correct. Thanks, Tr0n.

Oh Alice, sweet Alice. A girl asking about King's Quest.
haha, ok I'm awaking from my daze.

First, I assume you saw the text version of KQ5 that I created in the archive? Specifically, it's just the first half. I'm so close to finishing the full version, it hurts. You would appreciate it.

King's Quest VI, in my opinion, ties (if not surpasses) King's Quest V in being the best in the series of 8.

Sierra (the company that created the series) is out of business. I could be dead wrong though. I found my King's Quest III book and the phone number shows (209) 683-8989. I don't know if it works. The company address listed is SIERRA ON-LINE, INC, COARSEGOLD, CA 93614.
Keep in mind that the book I'm reading this out of was from 1989. :P

I did actually buy both of those versions when they came on floppy disk. And I think I have them all still.
.....I just got up and checked. Yes, I have them all including DISK 9.
I might be able to help you with that if you pm me here or email me at [email protected]

Another alternative. You can buy the whole set on CD now but it's hard to find since it's not actually in production anymore. Check discount software bins.

Ebay's always good.

Hey all. I saw the thread about King's Quest, so I thought I'd share this.

After Sierra (now owned by Vivendi) decided it wasn't going to make anymore adventure games, some fans got together to make their own King's Quest fan game. After it was finished, they planned to offer it as a free download to anyone who was interested. These fans were doing this for no other reason than they loved King's Quest, and they wanted to pay homage to the series.

After over three years of work, they were about to release it in December. However, just a couple of weeks ago, Vivendi issued a cease & desist letter -- essentially shutting the game down.

A group of fans, including myself, have joined forces in an effort to save the game. We launched a website, focusing on an email campaign.

http://www.savekqix.org

We setup an email link, where the message is already pre-written and ready to go. It literally only takes 10 seconds for someone to send an email to Vivendi.

We're also on MySpace. If anyone is on over there, feel free to add us to your friends list.

Take care,

Matt

P.S. The website of the game itself is:

Hey everyone,

If you want to help spread the word about us, there's something very simple you can do.

Go here:

http://digg.com/software/Possible_New_V ... ings_Quest

Click "digg it" on the left, under the number of diggs.

The more people who "digg it", the better the chances are that it'll make the front page of digg.com. The more people who see it, the more people will find out about us.

Thanks!

I remember King's Quest IV... :)

It was years ago and I was kinda little... Probably 6...

Really fun, It was the one with the cat and the shoe and the mouse and the yeti and the pie and the snake and the rattle thing and the frog and the dwarf things that made shoes, Right? =P (I feel like saying and alot)

You don't say? Actually, it's King's Quest V which just so happens to be the one that I created the text version for and it still sits on the first page of the Quest games ready for download.
In fact, if you click "download games", my King's Quest V is the 9th game from the top right now. You should check it out. :) Even a further fact, the puzzle you identified about the cat, shoe and mouse, I spent several days on that particular puzzle making sure it worked right. The "rattle thing" is a tambourine that you find later in the game to scare the rattle snake away.... oops, gave away a puzzle. HA!
