Geocaching on the bridleway by nikib42

You arrive in the car park ready to find a five stage geocache. Use your GPS device to search for each stage to find the final in-game cache container. When you find it, sign the log and leave in your car to finish the game.

This game accompanies a real-life geocache. You must complete and win this game in order to receive coordinates for the final cache container.

I know this is an older game, so I don't know if I'll get a response, but I'm stuck!
I'm new to IF (and really enjoying it!).

I'm at the tree, trying to get into the hollow. I've got the rope and can't find how to make it heavier. I've tried using my wellies, going back to the broken sign, searching the car... Any pointers?

I really enjoyed playing this game, and only needed to reach out to nikib42 once for a nudge which was quickly forthcoming and got me going again. I tend not to have much patience with these games, but the steady sense of progress and the details and humour along the way made it really enjoyable to complete.
