I'm Shawn (aka S,) a founding member of the 90's New Jersey indi Hip-Hop group "The Mighty Buddha Heads.” Although we only ever finished one album as a group, "Speak of the Devil” in 1993, it has developed a cult following over the decades. I'm also a big fan of 80's text adventures like Zork, and with my wife I own and run a classic arcade company HighScoresArcade.com
I have a background in teaching, and the last two years I have been homeschooling my elementary age children. I decided to learn this text adventure program so I could create some simple, personalized adventures for my kids who are both emerging readers. They have enjoyed games such as "Wishbringer" so it was a no-brainer for me to take on a small project, learn Quest, then start making them custom learning adventures.

Chocolate Thai Fiasco of '93: The Sample Text Adventure
Instead of learning Quest by beginning with an academic adventure for my kids, I challenged myself to write my initial game that I always personally wanted to do, which would allow me create the unique hip-hop recording studio environment of my childhood home. My father was a sound engineer around the time I was 16 in 1993 and we lived, slept, and ate hip-hop recordings. In this small slice of the adventure -rated maybe PG-13? (a segment of Chapter 4 of 10- only two rooms) the player gets to be the third, unnamed member of our rap-group, and spend time looking around the bedroom recording studio, the living room, and even interact with a few items. LOOK at and TAKE every item you can, and be sure to USE the right items WITH the right other items! Also, if you're playing on a smart phone be sure to check your inventory, money, and points often by using the + symbol to the right of the text box!
In the larger game you will follow some of the Mighty Buddha Heads hip-hop adventures around New Jersey and New York during one of the best times in Hip-Hop history! Even those who are not die hard rap fans may appreciate the finished game when I have learned more Quest and I am able to bring it to completion.
Peace!
