I believe that it is important to learn how to adapt to a loved one being diagnosed with Alzheimer's or another dementia-related disease in order to continue to develop healthy, rewarding relationships. As someone who had a loved one be diagnosed with Alzheimer's later in life while I was a teenager, I couldn't imagine not having the incredible memories I shared with her as a child. If she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's when I was a child, and I had not learned how to better interact with her to continue to build a valuable relationship, a huge part of what I cherish from my childhood would be gone. My goal with this game is to provide a platform for children to learn about the struggles someone with Alzheimer's may be going through and practice problem-solving techniques that can be used when interacting with a loved one with Alzheimer's disease is a way that is engaging, accessible, and easy to understand. At the same time, the game still provides useful information for adults to think about when interacting with loved ones with dimentia=related disease, and I hope to spark conversations within families to educate children on the value of continued relationships with their loved ones suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
