As We Will It by Smit

Equality is a lie.

Some are Kings and Queens, and others are starving men addicted to vice. Some are Olympic athletes, and others are pathetic bags of flesh. Some are the sons of powerful men- Senators, Congressmen, Presidents, Prime Ministers and the like. Others are worth little more than the pitiful wage they work for.

The lives of some human beings are priceless. Others cost less than a Happy Meal and one quick jerk of a machete.

What determines who you are, rich or poor? What gives your life value?

Some would say fate.

Some would say genes.

Some would say effort.

I say it is all three, God, and any other diety that you happen to believe in.

I say it is the dice.

Happen to roll all 6s? You'll live a charmed life, insulated from all worry. Yes, even those pesky #firstworldproblems.

Happen to roll all 1s? Enjoy your miserable short life starving in Sub-Saharan Africa, suffering from goiters.

So...won't you take a roll of the dice with me...?

Yes, these images are taken from DICE: The Cube That Changes Everything comic hosted on naver.com. This project is not meant to be sold or generate any profit whatsoever for its creator. I'm simply using it to create a fun but interesting text adventure that explores themes from Brave New World in 1984. This is using it for scholarship, which is covered under fair use. All credit for the images should be awarded to the artist Yunhyunseok, who has an awesome name.

Smit here.

Hi, EVHS guys, girls and Mr. Griffin!

Welcome to the cornerstone of my student productions for English, and something that I'm going to hope you enjoy playing. For maximum comfort, get a pair of headphones OR turn on the speakers. Some of the music in here is soft and hard to hear otherwise. You should also have a six-sided die or find a die simulator online.

If you enjoyed this, please create an account and leave a comment or rate it! I'd love to read your feedback, especially if there are parts that you thought deserve expansions, as well as your honest overall feelings about this piece.

Thanks!

// Developer Notes:

It is finally done. After two and a half hours of smashing my head against this bug-prone monstrosity, I have finally ironed out all the kinks and managed to get the images and music to display and play correctly.

I don't mean to offend, but why is there such a large disparity in ease of use for the online and the offline versions of the quest creator software? The latter works perfectly, no issues whatsoever.

The former, however, seems to have a whole host of issues. The upload system doesn't work, the links add themselves in weird ways, images sometimes don't attach, music is misaligned, etc.

Are there any special settings I should have been aware of? I have generally been following steps outlined in the tutorial, but it seems that that and the forum mostly focus around text adventures, not CYOAs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Smit here.

Thanks for your points. They're valid, but the problem is different.

I created this offline and am having trouble uploading it. The connection keeps resetting, no matter what network I'm using.

It is working offline, so I know that it should work.

Hopefully I'll have the fixed version up and running.

You got broken links.
Also, to not have it say, "This link goes to page #…" You gotta click, "Add link to existing page.
You click which page and then a box will show up. You type the option in it. For example,

Who's Jean Lesage?

The first minister of Quebec
The first minister of Canada
