This picture is about a Blackfoot legend about a boy that was an orphan, got adopted by his grandparents, was deaf, and gained his hearing back, then went after the Blackfoot legend of the horse, which no one had ever ridden before. They called the horses by many different names. A few of those names were; Elk dog, Spirit dog, Sacred dog, or Moose dog. The Blackfoot name for Elk dog was Pono-Kamita. This was because they were larger than a great elk, but as loyal and gentle as a dog that would also carry the people's burdens. Anyhow the boy went on this long journey to find a big lake where teh spirits would keep these mysterious animals. The boy found the animals at the bottom of this big lake and received many gifts from the chief of these great creatures. One of the gifts being the coat you see in this picture.
