Hello there,
I think an introduction is in order. My name is Joachim and I am 19, currently dropping out of university to focus on some other trade. For a while now, I have wanted to make a Choice of Game or a textadventure but I've never completely understood the coding and language for it, so I thought I'd give this a shot... I'm looking for a writing partner to help me put a game out there.
I have a lot of ideas and I'm willing to work for this to happen, even if it doesn't get much recognition from the community. I'm not looking for someone who is especially literate in coding and other computer wizardry. Should we hit it off, perhaps we could make some more adventures together and grow as a team?
If anyone is interested, hit me up.
Hi there Joachim, I am not super new but am in no way a pro or even a coder but Quest does offer a great GUI editor which I am starting a series on here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WNRvCpw3qo in that video its just me going over a few things that i want to cover in the series. But would also like to have someone to code with and learn new features to the engine, hit me up any time and we can chat about what we might want to do!
Mike
you're probably not going to find someone who has the time and/or who would even code a game for you, especially for free.
however, if you're not busy yourself, quest is a GREAT way to learn to code/program! I have done so, myself! I speak from such experience. I knew nothing at all about coding, when I found quest 4 years ago. And now, I'm taking programming (CS) classes in school/college, and have been totally shocked at how well quest has prepared me for them (though I'm struggling more now as the classes are harder and covering stuff I haven't learned from quest: designs / algorithm efficiency, assembly / comp arch, and etc).
if you want to see my own progression of knowing nothing to knowing stuff:
http://textadventures.co.uk/forum/quest/topic/3348/noobie-hks-help-me-thread (I jumped right into learning to code in/with quest after I went through the tutorial, as I wanted to learn to code)
(and quest has a great amount of resources available too for learning to code in quest, to code in general, and to learn quest)
so, if you got the time, learn to code/program! make your own game, both the design and the coding of it, hehe.
also, we're happy to help you, including learn to code. But, you're going to have a hard time finding someone who'll code your entire game for you. People will help with parts of the game that you need code for, but most/all won't create your game for you.
I started this thread to compile my (mainly RPG) gaming knowledge into one place for ideas, but it's been collecting dust for a long time:
http://textadventures.co.uk/forum/design/topic/3876/rpg-elements-game-mechanics-and-game-design
feel free to continue it, adding your own ideas (though I think we'd have to make a new thread as the site now closes threads that've been inactive for 60 days, and this one has been inactive for probably a few years, lol)
I would love to be able to get a group together, to work on a game, but right now I'm in school and I've got new and difficult programming projects to get done, so I'm probably too busy until the symester is over... and then I'll be busy too... but if/when I got the time, I'd love to work together with people as a group on a game (preferrably RPG, as that's the game I like most - but it's the most difficult/involved/ambitious type of game to make too... laughs)
Hey there guys, thanks for the replies! I'll be going over all the links you've sent me which will prove really useful, I bet.
I really like the dedication and the amount of details in your reply, hegemonkhan. If you're ever interested in getting together with a bunch of people for that roleplay idea, I'd be up for it. Even if I don't have much creative input in it, I suppose I can always learn from people with more experience!
And to Mike, I'll definitely hit you up in private messages if I figure out how that works, or might do on youtube!
here's some other useful links/resources, in case you're not aware of them:

Thats sounds good Joachim, Im not nearly as talented as HK and mainly use the GUI editor where as HK codes. Not sure about the PM on here can't seem to find it myself could of sworn there was though and youtube is a for sure place for me to get comments.
@ Onimike:
Alex migrated/updated the site (to a modern web language) and currently there is no pm capability, along with many of the other old site's capabilities not implemented either, at least, so far.
I am also looking for a partner so assist me in making text adventures. They are a lot of work. I'm currently in the middle of making my own, but I'm stuck on the story and would love discussing ideas with somebody, or just making a team. I've only been on here for a few days but I've nearly mastered the scripting.
