Hey folks!
I've not been so active here over the last month, mostly because I've been working on writing a novel in a month. I've managed to post a chapter every day, which was challenging at times, and I think I'm almost finished (on the last 5 chapters of my plan now).
It's not strictly relevant to this site, but I thought maybe some people I know here would like to see what I've been working on. Obviously this story is a little less polished, as I was trying to post a chapter every day while working on details like the cover and plan in the background; but I think it might have promise if I can come back to tighten it up a little.
Could probably use a sensitivity reader as well, if there's any trans guys around.
So, the story is Sorcerer on the Street. Everybody wants John to be something. His family wanted to marry him off to some rich guy. Isaac wants him to be a wizard. But John has run away from home, determined to follow his own dreams. And his dream is to be a private eye, just like in all the Raymond Chandler novels he read as a child. He can only hope that the detective skills he learned from those books are still relevant when it's 1996 and he's homeless in the big city…
Hey, I just read the first chapter, and this is good! (No surprise after having read your short story collection a few years ago, of course.)
I have to go clean up a few messes I made on GitHub, then I'll be reading the rest. I dug the vibe in that first chapter.
Thank you ☺
I remember when regular posting used to be what the Algorithm wanted, and just posting a chapter every day would be enough to get people to see your book. Both on Amazon and Wattpad. Now, it seems to be much more heavily slanted towards paid ads within the app, or bringing in existing fans. A chapter every day through November got me a grand total of 1 page view.
Up to 9 views for the first chapter now, which is a big improvement. But my writing has slowed down a bit now… yesterday and today I've been making slow progress on chapter 35 (out of 38 in the plan), but haven't got to the end.
You write one chapter a day? Wow, I also write little stories for children from time to time, but a chapter for you would take me a week
