I have fixed various issues that have caused the web version of Squiffy to be completely broken for some time.
Things should now be fully functioning again:
textadventures.co.uk
and refresh)Note:
I am aware that various other things on textadventures.co.uk are broken, like registering an account, resetting your password etc. I am hoping to help the maintainers fix those too.
Longer term I'll be setting up a separate website for Squiffy, and I'm planning to release a new version as a Progressive Web App. Stay tuned!
Hey, it's the main man!
Nice to meet you, and thanks for the site and all the software!
It's good to hear that you're back to help fix a few things.
I have learned more about coding and logic on this site than I could have ever imagined. Mostly thanks to the Pixie, mrangel, Pertex, XanMag, and, last but not least, your docs. It truly is nice to hear that things are looking up around here.
Thank you again for all the code and documentation, good sir.
Holey Crap! I just lost $5 bet with my niece over this! She's like I just made a Squiffy game! I'm like, your Mom said you're not allowed to download stuff to your iPad. She's like I didn't download it, I just made it online. I'm like, LIAR, Squiffy online is soooo broken.
Turned into a bet, and I've never been happier to lose 5 bucks!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Edit:
AND! I notice you're using mrangel's Squiffy 5.1.4! The documentation will need some updating in the future, but this is super exciting!

A quick internet search will show if your emails and/or passwords have been compromised,
but even if your account is safe,
I still recommend everyone to reset their password when the kind one have fixed it
Bot:
tips for making a strong password
Length: Aim for at least 12-16 characters
Complexity: Use a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters
Avoid Predictable Patterns: Don’t use easily guessable information like birthdays, names, or common words
Use Passphrases: Combine random words into a phrase or sentence, which can be both strong and memorable. For example, "Blue!Sky$Jumps9Fast."
I apologize, I made a mistake,
the reset password isn't broken

I dun think this Alex Warren is real,
and even if he is real,
nobody needs admin access to this website
In the case of website issues like broken password reset,
the website owner should look for a well-known website building experts with a company office that you can visit in real life
backup your website before entrusting your website,
if they ruin your website,
you have the ability to sue the company,
but if you give your admin access to someone on the internet whose account might have already been compromised,
you will be getting nothing back
Expert app creators,
you may post your newer quest app or squiffy app at https://github.com/
just like the pixie
https://github.com/ThePix/quest/wiki#libraries
Beware that bots posting website errors and app issues on forum might be pressuring the website owner to let someone else be in charge of the website, but it is a trojan horse attack, they are not who they say they are
I have already checked, most of these errors and issues are made up, there aren't such problems
Invaders
First they ask questions on forum, then ask to communicate over email,
they will accept your explanations, then check online if your emails have been leaked,
they will buy your passwords and now they can access your accounts and become you
Another method is to hack into the website itself,
tracking the input and output data,
and copying the list of emails and passwords,
then they can login the accounts by using bots or real humans
"Forgot password" is broken, because the website is currently not sending emails.
I think I love you Alex Warren! I use the online version with my students and it is inspiring to them. I am going to make you proud with what we create.
I doubt the user account has been compromised, but I'd expect the current site owner to be able to do his own due diligence to verify. Alex's user account, however, is legitimate and he is the original owner and creator of Quest, Squiffy, and this website so if anyone could provide the expertise to gets things working again it would be him.
A name I didn't expect to really see again, but it's good to see you're still kicking around. Thanks for everything you've done, Alex.
Do we have to post a forum thread that says the server is down or something like dat to wake the owner up?
It feels like he is not reading the forum
Hooooly moly.
After two long years...
It's back, gosh dang it.
Oh no.
Back down the rabbit hole I go.
