I'll Be Back . . . UPDATE: I'm back

Hello.

I've got to stop keeping up with politics, and I am apparently addicted to the crap. (Caught up in the soap opera, if you will.)

So, I'm going offline for a little while. That's the only thing I know to do to avoid it altogether.

It makes me angry -- because they all suck so bad at lying. If the lies weren't so obvious, and if so many people didn't believe them, it wouldn't anger me so much. (I'm talking about both sides, but one side seems to be completely non-evidence-based these days, working with nothing but pathos.)

I shall return in a few weeks, and I shall be less angry.

Don't do anything I wouldn't do while I'm gone!

Happy gaming!

Oh God. Now I gotta hope that nothing code-y shows up while KV is gone!

Have a happy Cyber-away-cation. And yes, I agree with you.

Hope to see you back on this unpolitical website

I'm back.

...and holy shit! This site was SPAM-BOMBED while I was gone!

Have a happy Cyber-away-cation.

It was pleasant. No one warning me about things over which I have no control every two seconds. Very soothing.

And yes, I agree with you.

I started writing an essay with the working title 'On the Continuing Decay of the Art of Lying' the other day. After writing three pages concerning the past five years, and thinking about all the people I know who ate it all up like candy, I got discouraged. This is because I realized anything I wrote wouldn't help because (A) most of the people I know who believe the obvious lies either don't or can't read, and (B) I realized it's all about supply and demand.

One thing I did realize that might help everyone out a little is that we all pay the cable news people's salaries. All those news channels are included in the basic subscription package. So, everyone with cable, satellite, or what-have-you is supporting this crap.

I am no longer a customer. If they take the news channels out of the basic programming packages, making it so anyone who wants those news channels have to pay extra to add them to their own plan, I will subscribe to their programming again. Until then, the cable and satellite programming providers are just as bad as whatever cable news network you hate, as far as I'm concerned.

(They can call that "cancel culture", or they can call it an example of "free market capitalism"; I don't really give a shit.)

Hope to see you back on this unpolitical website

Of the few times politics have been discussed on this site, I think I am responsible for 90% of them. (Sorry about that, everyone. I will behave appropriately from now on.)

The funny thing is, I am in no way political, but, in pointing out obvious bullshit every time someone I know felt a need to share it with me over the past four years (which was at least once a day), I somehow got caught up in political debates all the damned time. This is funny, because I do my best to avoid making declarative statements with no evidence to back them up, and I don't like anyone who has ever been in office, nor do I like anyone who is (or was) running for office.

I tried to be polite and respectful while attempting to apply the Golden Rule, as I would want someone to let me know if I believed things which were obviously untrue, but I really just don't care anymore. If someone brings up anything political, I will politely attempt to change the subject. If that fails, I will humbly request that we avoid discussing such things. If that fails, I shall avoid that person henceforth.

Within a week, I will no longer know which politician is the Babyface and which politician is the Heel.

I know, I know. . . That's professional wrestling terminology, but it is analogous to politics.

...and that's all I have to say about that.

Welcome back.
Forget the politics - just leave them to the politicians.
Go back to your coding.

Hi KV! Welcome back!

You must always realize that Homo Sapiens has existed for thousands of years, but in this time has not developed mentally, but only accumulated knowledge. Why think, if you can solve it with a club.

Hi KV!

Hello!

You must always realize that Homo Sapiens has existed for thousands of years, but in this time has not developed mentally, but only accumulated knowledge. Why think, if you can solve it with a club.

I agree with this.

Good, you're back! Now I can start breaking my code again!

Good, you're back! Now I can start breaking my code again!

You must have been waiting for me because you needed help breaking that code! Ha ha ha!

Pixie, mrangel, and Pertex are the real code fixers around here. I only know enough to be dangerous (which is my comfort zone).

Speaking of mrangel, I haven't seen him post anything lately. I hope he's okay, and just writing a book or something like that.

Also, if anyone here is a motorcycle rider, reCAPTCHA seems to be very interested in you today.
