Saving Cupid by Claire6129

This is my first text adventure.
You must save Cupid- (Dont ask why)- and save Valentine's day!
A goblin will guard the key!

Please comment, walking me through how to do it, I have no idea how to….
This isn't much better…. I'll keep on trying...

every thing you write kills you what kind of game is this?

Stop writing. Just please. Stop it. The Universe would be so much better off without your games.

How do I delete this game?

Er...yeah I'm going to have to agree with previous comments. My very first command was checking my inventory and that immediately killed me, turned the screen red and flashed up an error message.

Might be best for you to just delete this game and start over again from scratch once you've gone through the tutorial. (http://docs.textadventures.co.uk/quest/tutorial/ --it's right here on the site!) Making rooms and objects is pretty simple, get those basics down and then you can focus on turning it into an actual game.

Oh, and MooCow...you are a VERY patient man. Kudos for being willing to spend so much time explaining all that to a newbie.

Just a little hint: There is a site called QuestWiki with tutorials for Quest. It was a big help for me. It is on "quest5.net".

And I see you also want me to walk you through it. I think you do, at least. Alrighty then.

I recently learned how to do this, so I don't know EVERYTHING.

You probably already know how to add objects and rooms, right? Well, add a room. There should a already be one created after you create a new game. It is titled "room", I think. That's boring. Go to setup after clicking on it and rename it what you want. Also, an object called "player" should be already there. You don't have to do anything with that, the game uses it as the player, obviously. Then hit the drop down box next to the word description on the room you renamed. Hit "text" and type what you want it to say when you enter the room. Since this is the first room, the player will automatically be there when the game starts.

The room is boring. You need to add objects. You probably know how to do that. Click "add object" at the top of the page and name it. Like "book" for example. Then add a description. Again, hit on the drop-down box and choose text. You could also hit run script, but that's only if you want to have something happen if y oh look at it. Fill out the description with something like "the book is tattered and very old." Now, when the player says "look at book", that will be what it says.

Create another room, add a description. Then, you might want to make It so that you can go between the two rooms. Click on the exits tab, and choose the north box. In the right, hit "create exit."
Make sure that the option to "create an exit in the other direction" is checked. It should be already checked. Then it will make two exits, one "south" to the second room, and one "north" to the first.

Keep doing that. Yeah. Any other questions? I think you do have a lot of them, but I am typing on a tablet and my pecking finger hurts. I will try to answer anything else, like how to give and use things a nd how to add verb

If you need help, I'll do what i can. If you are trying to have the game tell the plot before it starts, just hit run script on the starting script, then choose print message. Type whatever you want, then stop and add another script. Choose "Wait for key press" and the game will wait until the player hits a key before starting the game.

That's the easiest start to a game i know, other than just not putting anything there and having the game automatically start in the first room. I hope that helps, if it doesn't, then yell at me in frustration.

Every time i try to move, it says that i threw up and died. Then it says error and apparently you forgot to fill something out the rest of the way or something. Are you having trouble with the starting script?

But it's okay, I thought it was funny that i somehow threw up and died. Everyone knows that's the BEST way to die.

since your game is "saveing cupid" use if else feature that allows u to do random chance and so on go to scripts then click add script and choose the if tab above others then click expression and random chance this will allow cupid to get the key or he wont get the key and if goblin is guarding add a random chance to which u were sucessful getting the key or not hope this helped ;)

I tried to play it but could only get . "You may enter the forest and save Cupid". Perhaps you should read the tutorial. I took a week before I could understand it. Then I wrote 2 games. (not brilliantly)
