Wandering and Shrinking (1.1.3) by Raddaman8000
No more updates. It's good enough. Don't ask.
You are a person in an infinite hall of rooms with random items in them. You can interact with these items in multiple ways, and hidden somewhere among the rooms is a shrink ray so you can have even more fun. But be careful: shrinking around the wrong characters can and will lead to a probably horrific death. Is there a way out of this infinite conundrum? To play, I highy recommend you use the command buttons on the side unless the game tells you you need to type something out.
WARNING: The narrator is not a representation of the author, but a separate character entirely, so any snide/mean comments he makes are not my responsibility.
1.1.3: The "Overdue" Update Changelog:
*I'm back!!! (I will try to release the next updtae as soon as I can, this update is just to let you know that I'm still alive.)
*New bad ending! (The good news is that you don't die, so this is actually the only neutral ending in the game!)
*Streamlined some quotes to make them easier to understand.
*Bugfixes:
*Removed dropping the shrink ray.
*Removed being able to exit rooms while sitting down in the chair.
*Fixed attempting to shrink the cat without a shrink ray.
*Bugs:
*Picking up the tv screen will cause an error message to occur. However, this does not affect the game itself, and it still funtions properly (If ANYBODY knows how to fix this bug, please contact me. I've been looking for that bug for a long time, yet haven't been able to find it.)
Possible future updates:
*Audio and images (Now guaranteed!)
*Shrinking other objects/NPCs (It'll probably be way too much trouble to make EVERYthing shrinkable, though, so don't count on it.)

I have to say I loved this story. The solutions to the puzzles were almost always fun to do (the almost being that some points were a bit convoluted/confusing). I hope the future updates improve it, but I do have a problem with one change you're aiming for. I feel that audio and images may detract from the overall experience. You have to nail the audio in order to get it to work, as bad audio is the thing that can ruin any piece of media the easiest. As for the images, these don't really work a lot, at least for me. A better way to liven up your game might be to just focus on the descriptions. Leaving the audience with a description gives them the personal freedom of their imagination, yet still guides them to the image you want. I can see it maybe working in tandem with the game if you had planned it from the outset, but shoehorning it in later on does not fit well. But if you've gotten this to pull off well, I can't wait to see how it changes the original piece.

Very interesting concept - I haven't played anything like it yet which kept my interest. The writing is clever and in many games I play even that is lacking although it is the most crucial part of a TA (IMO). A couple of things that should hopefully be easy to correct.
1. A small hint about climbing would be nice. For example, when I look at the large drum, it suggests I should jump on it, but when I type 'jump on drum' it says I can't do that or can't see it... something like that. If, when I looked at the large drum, it said something like "Hey. I bet if you climb up there and jump on it, it might make cool music!" it might have helped.
2. I think the order of the text that appears when I climb on the bed is out of order?
3. Unless I'm missing something, there is something wrong with the verbage of the cartridge with the nintendo? I tried a myriad of combination like use cartridge on/in nintendo, put cartridge in nintendo, insert cartridge in nintendo, etc and I couldn't get it to accept.
4. Get rid of the prefix on the 'you are now under the covers' room because it reads as 'You are in You are now under the covers'.
5. I assume the game ended when I got eaten by the hobo? :lol: Once eaten, I could still enter commands but nothing worked and it certainly SOUNDED like the game should have ended.
6. And again, maybe I missed it... but when I entered the cage I got a message about how 'this should be fun' and I got excited! But. I could only go around the tubes in a square. Was I missing something? =)
If you have questions, please ask me. Also, this is an interesting game with some clever writing. I like it and will certainly play more and critique again once you update it. Good luck and Happy gaming!
