If you are not familiar with the original game, I hope these links will be helpful! They are a map and two walk-through descriptions. I recommend trying the game on your own, and then, if you get really, really stuck, check out the walk-throughs. This game is not identical to the original, but there are enough similarities that you can find the non-obvious things that you have to do. I used the walk-throughs when I had finished about 90% of the game and I knew that there was just something I had to do that was in the original game but I would never guess. Use wisely!

Well, it's 2025 and I have a question. I'm on the island and I need the lamp, but I can't pick it up! Not sure what I am missing. If anyone is out there...let me know!

Hi Steve, glad you are enjoying it so far! I didn't realize how complicated the King's Quest games were until I started this one. I created this one online. I started working on another game offline not long after this one and found some of the commands a bit tempermental and buggy, so I had to be patient and a bit creative with making objects visible/invisible and if/then commands. I should really go back to it and try to finish- haven't even looked at it for the last two years!

Hey Crispin, just adding a comment. I already gave a review. I wanted to say thanks again for mentioning me in your game. I wanted to say that when I created KQ5, it was before online play was possible and I think the programming of the original Quest engine worked slightly different as I have now run into various new bugs in my own game. I hope that doesn't deter you from playing again. I also hope to try to get back into this and see if there is a way to update it with the newer Quest engine.
Did you create yours online initially?

Hi Crispin, this is Steve Lingle. I came out of hiding and was flattered that you mentioned me in the game intro. I'm glad my King's Quest V text game inspired you to create this. I played your King's Quest 2 for a bit and will continue again when I have more time. I enjoyed the layout and descriptions. I played until Hagatha did me in. hahaha... will definitely play again. 5 stars.

I thought this was an excellent take on the original King's Quest II game by Roberta Williams. The items work beautifully, I was impressed to see most of the characters, and the few alterations are worked in nicely. It was so fun to explore the world of Kolyma again! Please do King's Quest I next!

Hi Sarah4,

You are right! The command is "say home amulet". I am working on a less weird command, while still requiring the amulet, and staying true to the original game. This command should appear in the item inventory, though. Let me know if it works!

Hi Crispin, thanks for fixing it, I'm playing off-line and now that I've downloaded the updated version of the game the boat has appeared along with the ghoul, it must have only been a bug in the off-line version so thanks for fixing it! I've now very nearly reached the end of the game (I think!) I've found a promising looking amulet and have fed the lion and reached my princess in the tower, unfortunately, I now cannot figure out how to use the amulet to send us both home, I've tried every verb and combination I can think of but to no avail, am I barking up the wrong tree?

The boat should have appeared with the ghoul (and it appeared for me, oddly enough). I have updated the game, so hopefully the boat should appear now. Are you working off a downloaded version or online?

Thanks for the quick reply Crispin. The problem is that, although the ghoulish ferryman has appeared by the foul lake, I can't see his boat. I've tried typing 'get in boat', 'get on boat', 'board boat' and other variations, but, although the description of the ghoul mentions a boat, I cannot figure out how to make it appear as a separate object. Thanks again for your help!

Hi sarah4,

Really glad you are enjoying this so far! To get into the boat, you are right to disguise yourself (with 1 item in particular). Did you try the command "get in boat?" It worked the last time I tried it, but if it doesn't work for you let me know and I will try to fix it.

Hi Crispin, really enjoying this game so far, I played the text version of another King's Quest game on here a while ago and greatly enjoyed it (I've never played the originals) so thought I'd give this a go and, so far, I'm really enjoying it! I've picked up quite a lot of treasure, opened the first two doors and am now seeking the key for the third. I believe that in order to obtain this key I need to cross the unpleasant lake. A ghoul has now appeared by the pier but I can't seem to get him to take me across the lake, either by giving him one of my treasures, or by disguising myself with the cloak, ring and cross, any hint you could give would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
