A dark fiction fantasy short story about an unknown predatory force that wreaks havoc on a Keep in the middle of nowwhere. The two survivors still cling to a shred of hope through the memories of the Commander's niece, Emma. Emma was the soldier's bastion of strength in the dark days and would always ensure that everyone was fed and as comfortable as possible.
