The Martian is a Simplified Mandarin sci-fi game.

Thank you for giving my game a try, Jesse Richardson. I look forward to finishing yours. The beginning is already funny.

i can kinda sorta read chinese, but i forgot most of it. Reading 5 words in this game was challenging for me. But not to fear, Xanmag, this game is not a sandpit game.

Apart from visual novels, IF is really hard to find in Mandarin. Here is a TPRStory I found for Chinese language learners. https://writer.inklestudios.com/stories/j92x

Escape (逃出去) is better than my game. Play it if you want to practice reading Chinese!

Oh I see the game is now Sandpit.

IFfC,

I initially placed it in sandpit, because that was listed as the suggested category by the author. It still is. I don't think any moderators can read Chinese, so I think it is safe enough to trust the author? Right? After seeing the news feed, I moved it back to uncategorized because I did not now where to put it! =)

Anyway, either respond in your comments section to what category it belongs in OR update the listing requesting the proper category and I will move it to the proper location! Thanks!

IFforClassroom do you think someone among the moderators can read Chinese? This game should really be part of a different category than just "Uncategorized".

Rats. I got one iteration without marks; now they're back again. :(

Wow! That fixed it, apparently! It was not troublesome, I just "replaced all" in a text editor.

This solution might be troublesome, but try typing the question marks in English instead of Chinese when writing it. Hopefully that works.

Is this one of the question mark problems you are talking about?

I see this sign in the middle of some sentences.

flysquirrel775, thank you so much for your generous review! I learned English first which accounts for the numerous errors and wrong words in the game. (My friends got tired of revising this for me). The Simplified Chinese version still needs a lot of debugging and fixing as well. Did you notice the occasional double question marks (??) ? Do you have any idea how to make them stop popping up? The really weird thing is they don't pop up in the same place from play to play.

IFforClassroom, which language did you learn first, Chinese or English? I just want to know since I had some difficulty playing the game due to not being completely able to read all the characters. Since you're fluent in both, that's obvious, I was just wondering if you learned Chinese as a foreign language or maybe English as a foreign language. Either way it's nice you can write games in both.

写的不错,我玩了足足45分钟。让我能够在一个游戏里接触传统文化。再继续写这一类的东西吧!

Getting excited for New Year's? While exploring the streets and gathering celebration food, keep in mind that there exists a New Year's Monster, which comes to town at the end of the year.

If you're up for a challenge, definitely try this game. Keep in mind that at first it may take you some time!

Yes, flysquirrel755, I can speak English. I know of very few IF in Mandarin. Taiwanese and Chinese Mainlanders often prefer visual novels and graphic adventure games. The only other Chinese IF author I know of is 余英卜月. It would be nice to find more.

Thank you for your attention. It looks like your game, Memories of Hell: Story of My Hometown, is getting great reviews. I'll play it soon!

Dear moderators,
Please excuse me. I would like to bother you to reconsider your assessment. I do not think that the game is "Too short." The player character can find a place to sleep at any time. However, if the player character has not yet found a way to defeat the Chinese New Year Monster, the game ends a that point. My Taiwanese wife took about half hour to win this game.

Thank you.
